What is the difference between POP & Putty?

POP is made of Gypsum while Putty is made of White cement & polymers. POP can be done upto the thickness of 25 mm and use mainly to level the undulation of walls. Putty can be done upto the thickness of 1.5 mm, it is mainly use to smoothen the wall surfaces.

Which type of putty is better?

Cement wall putty is often used on masonry surfaces and when there are large gaps in between joints due to poor construction practices. Acrylic wall putty is often more expensive but it lasts longer than cement types because it resists water damage better. For Luxury & Luxury plus paints, Acrylic putty is a better option.

Why primer is required to be done on walls before painting?

Primer looks a lot like paint, but has a higher concentration of solids plus an adhesive binder in it. It essentially seals the surface and provides a smooth and clean area for paint to adhere. In some ways, it’s more of a glue or sealant than a paint.

How many coats of paint would be enough?

Usually two coats of paints are enough but more coats may be required for darker shades. Proper application of primer is also helpful in optimizing the number of paint coats.

Can all the undulation of walls be removed through sanding & putty?

No, with sanding & putty,  upto 1.5 mm thickness of undulation be adjusted. Beyond it, POP application is needed.

Can seepages be rectified through water proof putty or primer?

Minor wetness can be hide through water proof putty and primer, ideally source of seepage to be rectified to close to the seepage issue.

What type of polishes can be done on wood surfaces?

Lacquer, Melamine, PU, Polyester, Duco, Enamel, Water based emulsion paints can also be done.

What is the difference between lacquer and Melamine Polish?

The Melamine and Lacquer is exactly the same product as the non-aerosol version, with the same performance properties. The Acrylic Gloss and Acrylic Satin Lacquers are slightly different as we are able to use different resins in them.

What is the difference between Melamine and PU polish?

They function similarly and the differences are mainly in the duration and resistance of the coatings. PU Polish provides more resistance and durability to the wooden surfaces but definitely costlier than Melamine. For Exterior purpose, Melamine will not suit the purpose as it has very limited resistance against water and sun.

What is Duco Polish?

Duco paint is used on wooden and metal surfaces as it increases the life of the furniture by being resistant to many aspects that ruin metal and wooden furniture.

Can POP (Plaster of Paris ) be done on external surfaces?

It can be applied on interior surfaces. It can’t be applied on external surface as it gets dissolved in water.

What are Green paints or Low VOC paints?

Low VOC paints are those that contain less “Volatile Organic Compounds” (VOC) or VOC Solvents than traditional coatings. These paints shall generate lesser harmful fumes hence better for health.

A painter’s total estimated cost is based on the estimated hours they will take to complete the work, plus a number of factors that are subject to change, taking into account:

Location

Season
